The Gingin Hotel was built in
1902 and 1903 and the two
storey brick building was
officially opened on January
29th, 1903.
One of Western Australia's oldest towns, with the first
settlers arriving in 1832, Gingin retains much of its antiquity and is
a delightfully quaint township with a substantial number of historical
buildings, including the excellent old pub. The lazy tree lined Gingin
Brook runs through the heart of the settlement.
Nestled into the valleys to the north of Perth,
it is the ideal distance from the capital for a day trip and is a popular
stop off for tourists heading north. The hotel was allegedly built for
two defrocked Irish priests who enjoyed their evening drink!
In 1999 David and Melissa Moffat - business
owners, visited Gingin and were immediately taken with the town and the
(then rundown) old pub. The potential was obvious, being a historic building,
the only pub in town and only one hour from Perth. The lease was signed
on June 4th 1999 and David and Melissa set about making plans to revitalise
the hotel.
It is now an excellent venue for small conferences, weddings,
trade shows and weekend retreats. The hotel offers excellent accommodation,
quality food and an excellent range of draught beers and a fine wine list.
We look forward to meeting you!
